Direct Support Professional duties and responsibilities

Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with mental or developmental disabilities by following behavior plans, teaching self-care skills, cooking meals and doing laundry. Additional duties may include: 

  • Assisting participants with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing
  • Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes and tidying.
  • Helping plan participant appointments and organize a schedule.
  • Organizing with transportation arrangements to appointments
  • Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific participant dietary needs.
  • Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities.

Duties and responsibilities: Use our agency in several ways, ranging from conducting psychotherapy sessions with participants to providing and overseeing medication management.

Shared Living Provider duties and responsibilities

Shared Living Provider lives and works with individuals with mental or developmental disabilities in the employee’s house and by follows behavior plans, teaches self-care skills, cooking meals and doing laundry. Additional duties may include: 

  • Assisting participants with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing
  • Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes and tidying.
  • Helping plan participant appointments and organize a schedule.
  • Organizing with transportation arrangements to appointments
  • Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific participant dietary needs.
  • Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities.

Shared Living Program Coordinator duties and responsibilities

As a Program Coordinator, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our residential program. You will be responsible for leading a team of direct support professionals, developing, and implementing individualized support plans, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional services that align with our values and philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of direct support professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor person-centered support plans that address the unique needs, goals, and preferences of each individual served.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community partners to coordinate comprehensive services and support.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Supervise medication management, oversee the implementation of behavior support plans, and provide crisis intervention as needed.

Experience with schedules and scheduling.

  • Coordinate and schedule medical appointments, arrange transportation, and assist individuals in accessing community resources and benefits.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, analyze data, and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new staff members, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Ensure timely documentation of client interactions and support interventions in the form of progress notes, incident reports, communication logs, and other required documentation.
  • Mobilize resources to meet individual needs and communicate effectively to exchange information with team members, families, and community partners.
  • Develop and assess individual program plans and individual family support plans.
  • Ensure clients receive assistance with social security, including work incentives, wage reporting, benefit counseling, and management of personal finances (as needed and desired)
  • Ensure support for persons served in locating and securing adequate housing options, advocating on their behalf with landlords, and assisting in arranging moving in/out of apartments.
  • Ensure assistance for persons served in applying for and maintaining low-income assistance such as housing support, food stamps, and energy assistance; assist with reporting taxes or securing tax assistance.
  • Work a shift per an established schedule and be flexible to work outside the shift parameters based on the needs of the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in education, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Proven experience in person-centered planning, program writing, and program implementation
  • Strong knowledge of positive behavior support, habilitation services, and best practices in the field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Therap)
  • Knowledge of current practices in the field of community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities and other services for persons with developmental disabilities
  • Understanding of the principles of normalization and provision of habilitation services
  • Familiarity with statutes and regulations pertaining to the delivery of services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to assess the needs of persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities, their families, interdisciplinary team members, and agency representatives.
  • Skill in applying agency and program rules, policies, and procedures consistently and effectively.

Minimum of 1 year of prior supervisory experience

RBT duties and responsibilities

A Registered Behavior Technician, or RBT, is responsible for assisting behavioral analysis teams in evaluating mental health patients and their conditions over a certain timeframe. Their duties include adhering to behavioral health plans developed by other mental health professionals to provide patients with beneficial care, interviewing patients at their home or healthcare facility. Duties and responsibility may include:

  • Work 1:1 with patients in the home, school, clinic, and community settings
  • Consistently implement treatment plans with fidelity (under BCBAs direction) and prepare program materials; treatment protocols that include a wide variety of domains such as toilet training, communication, social, and adaptive living skills
  • Collect and maintain accurate data and clinical notes utilizing data collection software
  • Review and implement consultation/supervision note recommendations
  • Participate in ongoing training, evaluations, and meetings, as required
  • Assist with parent training and clinical assessments, as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the BCBA regarding learner’s progress
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues and families, as needed
  • Track supervision hours and annually renew the RBT certification as mandated by the regulatory body to maintain the certification
  • Work ethically and with integrity while following the BACB Ethical Code
  • Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies and maintain a record, in good standing, of regular and reliable attendance and punctuality, to provide quality and consistent patient care

Qualifications:

  • Must have current/active RBT certification or equivalent experience
  • High School Diploma (relevant college degree and coursework is preferred)

  • Commitment to become certified and maintain the certification as an RBT
  • Availability to work a minimum of 15 hours weekly, including some flexibility regarding schedule changes required to accommodate patient needs
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work location

Nurse duties and responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to participants. Collaborates with participant and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Cares for participants in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsible for the coordination of care, participant assessment, employee education and various other nursing interventions.

May serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to license and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate. Provides adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure.

Residential Program Coordinator duties and responsibilities
